We got the loft! I got into school! I finalized the date for the NY Show!
Well, we still have to go through the portfolio review, but everything else for the loft has been approved. We will be moving in mid-late july. Perfect timing since I need that space to work on my show.
That means we need to sublet our current apartment - which is actually pretty sweet.
If anybody needs a place or knows somebody who needs a place, let me know! It’s a 2-bedroom (we use it as a one bedroom with an art studio) with a large deck (about 8’x16’), a swimming pool, and awesome neighbors for $995/mth. I’ll post some photos when we finalize things. There are about 6 months left on the lease and you can go month to month after that. It really is just about the best deal I’ve seen on Capitol Hill. Another bonus is the cherry trees that are everywhere back here - there’s also a raspberry thicket i graze daily - we’ve also get enough sun on the deck to grow strawberries. When the leaves fall off the trees you have an awesome view of Rainier and the Cascades.
The show in new york at apt in soho will have its opening reception on Sept 7 (friday). We just got our place tickets and will be in town from the 4th til the 8th. I wish I could stay longer, but my school starts up on the 10th so I need to get back. The show is going to be AWESOME - i created sort of this sick childrens story that is going to be the backbone of the work. i’ll post some stuff soon. In addition to paintings, I’m going to have some small sculpted characters and Jessi & I are collaborating on some jewelry.
here are a couple watercolor doodles from the last couple weeks.
The first is a study for a 2’x4’ commission I’m working on (that isnt going to be anything like this one)
and the second is just a little doodle I did after I bought some Cadmium red and hookers green - seeing how far the colors can go - it’s pretty cool you can go from nice neutrals to red-green-brown to black. Anyhow - not that great but it was educational.
